A widespread supply chain ransomware cyberattack has affected multiple managed service providers (MSP) and their clients through exploits in Kaseya’s VSA Platform. Kaseya VSA is a cloud-based platform leveraged by approximately 30% of the MSPs globally. It allows providers to perform patch management and client monitoring for their customers.
Who is impacted?
This attack affects MSPs running the Kaseya VSA platform and any of their clients that have the agent installed. The attacked target systems are encrypted with the perpetrators requesting ransom payments noted to be ranging from US$45,000 to US$5 million to unlock the affected systems.
What is CT doing to help?
CT does not use the Kaseya VSA platform, and as such our clients are unaffected by this attack. However, we have reached out to our industry contacts to offer support services to the affected MSPs across Australia. We recognise that this insidious attack may not be a fault of their own making, yet, it negatively impacts the IT services industry, and also Australian organisations more broadly, and we want to do our bit to help.
For any non-MSP end-user organisations that are affected, we stand ready to help you should you require it. We have specialist Cybersecurity, Server and Network specialists ready to deploy upon request.
