Technology needs to excel student learning, not hinder it.

The Situation

Braemar College, based in Mt Macedon was established in 1975 and now spans across 5 buildings with Braemar House, built in 1889, serving as the primary hub. It is home to 125 teachers and staff, with 75 based at Mt Macedon and 50 working from their new Woodend campus.

Prior to partnering with CT, Braemar had an inhouse IT team of three people. Braemar’s challenges began with Virtual Hosts running Microsoft Hyper V without centralised storage and no access to VLANs. This caused many issues including wireless network issues, dwindling redundancy to widespread frustration amongst staff and students who could no longer easily access their technology.

Braemar contacted CT initially to conduct an audit of the overall network and environment performance.

The Solution

Braemar requested CT achieve two key goals:

1. A wireless network solution that would successfully support almost 1000 devices without dropouts or loss of coverage.

2. Deliver improved levels of support within the ICT department to assist teaching and learning.

CT were able to successfully deliver a solution that increased wireless reliability and response times while decreasing downtime. They were also able to provide staff training on how to best engage ICT to get support from the new team via a ticketing system.

The Outcome

CT was chosen as the preferred ICT integration partner for Braemar due to their breadth of experience with school networks and holistic approach to solving network issues on campus. While Braemar had very strict specifications and faced unique challenges, CT’s ability to deliver a successful solution whilst delivering exceptional customer service ensured a seamless outcome.
